Borbonius Anthias (Odontanthias borbonius) – 3–4” (Eastern Asia Import)

The Borbonius Anthias, also known as the Checked Swallowtail or Yellow Spotted Anthias, is a rare and highly sought-after species in the aquarium trade. Imported from Eastern Asia, this 3–4 inch specimen displays a pale pink body accented with distinctive yellow to tan patches across its scales. At full maturity, Borbonius Anthias can reach up to 6 inches.

This species should be placed only in well-established aquariums of 125 gallons or larger, with plenty of open space for swimming and rockwork that provides caves, cracks, and crevices for resting. They are reef-safe and thrive best when kept in groups or harems, preferring to swim in the mid-water column.

Borbonius Anthias require a nutrient-rich, meaty diet including mysis shrimp, copepods, and other enriched frozen foods. To maintain their health and coloration, they should be fed multiple small meals throughout the day. Like many Anthias, they are hermaphroditic and may transition between sexes during their lifetime. They are also known to be jumpers, so a tight-fitting lid is essential.
