Purple Queen Anthias (Pseudanthias tuka) – 1.5–2” (Eastern Asia Import)

The Purple Queen Anthias, also known as the Yellowstriped or Purple Anthias, is a striking addition to any reef tank. This vibrant species displays subtle differences between males and females: males feature a dark spot just behind the dorsal fin and a hint of yellow on the throat, while females show a yellow stripe down the back and yellow accents on the tail. Both sexes exhibit a stunning plum coloration. Purple Queen Anthias can reach up to 5 inches at maturity.

Pseudanthias Anthias should be introduced only into well-established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Provide rockwork, caves, cracks, and crevices for resting areas, along with open mid-water space where they prefer to swim. These fish thrive in groups or harems, are reef-safe, and will jump if uncovered—so a tight-fitting lid is essential.

Feed a varied diet of enriched meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, copepods, and finely chopped seafood. Multiple small feedings per day are required to maintain their health and vivid coloration. Like many Anthias, they are hermaphroditic and may change sex during their lifetime.
